Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco classifies her music as folk-rock or alternative. However, it contains influences such as punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani Difranco has been widely acknowledged as a pioneer for feminist music. In 1990, she was among the first to establish her own label independently. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in the city of Buffalo in New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who met Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Both her parents were both of Montreal from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the track "32 Flavors". The song debuted on DiFranco's 1995 sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she would be hosting the three-day workshop on an Louisiana slave plantation. The workshop was cancelled, but the majority of people (including this piece) did not show any remorse. DiFranco apologized for her mistake a couple of days afterward. Although known for her role as Little Peoplesinger, she's collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. The singer lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is with Kristen Ford. At 14, she began to compose her own music. She performed them at bars and coffee shops throughout her teens. DiFranco began attending Buffalo State College when she was sixteen and a half years old. She was a graduate of the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts when she was just 16 years old. Ani's baritone is a customized Alvarez guitar, which was designed through a series of consultations with Chrys who was an Alvarez artist representative at the time.
